Orphanage Outreach has been working in the Dominican Republic since 1994 to provide opportunities to orphaned, abandoned, and disadvantaged children. Nearly 50 groups (1000 volunteers) joined Orphanage Outreach for short term missions and service-learning volunteering in 2007 alone. We are looking for a Christian couple or individual to lead these groups and volunteers. This is a tremendous opportunity to serve the Dominican people, and also to provide a missions opportunity to hundreds of young Americans and Canadians.
Applicants must have a proven ability to lead high school and/or college groups, be comfortable working with both churched and non-churched people, be able to work in a complex multi-cultural setting, be high energy, be healthy, be willing to learn Spanish, and be satisfied with simple living accommodations. Minimum two year commitment requested.
Families are discouraged due to limited living space, limited educational opportunities, and high work demands.
The position includes room and board, transportation to and from the Dominican Republic from the U.S. or Canada, and insurance. Any additional support the applicant requires must be self-generated.
